The Cotton Saladaeng has collaborated with design and illustration studio artist, Gamm aka The Pigeon Post. Spreading throughout the 2nd and 3rd floor, here you will find the mural wall designed especially for The Cotton Saladaeng Hotel. Here is a little interview with the artist on what’s behind the inspiration and how the name The Pigeon Post came about.
Why the name The Pigeon Post and what is your style? ที่มาของชื่อ The Pigeon post และสไตล์ผลงานของคุณแก้มคืออะไร
The Pigeon Post is literally came from a post (letter) that is sent by a pigeon in the old days. I started my design first through postcards so it felt about right, warm and cute and I have been using the name since then even though I have shifted to other scope of designs. I genuinely love illustrating vintage style art with a little hint of whimsical dreamy and magic-related theme.
The Pigeon Post หมายถึง การส่งจดหมายด้วยนกพิราบ เป็นวิธีที่โบราณ แต่ดูน่ารักอบอุ่น เพราะในช่วงแรกที่เริ่มทำ The Pigeon Post แก้มเริ่มทำเป็นร้านออกแบบการ์ดก่อน แต่หลังจากทำมาสักพักก็เปลี่ยนไปเรื่อยๆ ไม่ได้เจาะจงทำแค่การ์ดแล้ว แต่ทำทุกอย่างเลยที่เป็นงานออกแบบ แต่ก็ยังคงใช้ชื่อเดิมอยู่ ส่วนสไตล์งาน แก้มชอบวาดภาพประกอบอยู่แล้ว งานส่วนใหญ่เลยเน้นวาด ชอบเป็นพิเศษคือภาพประกอบที่ดูวินเทจ ดูเวทมนต์ๆ ฝันๆ

I got the inspiration from the location which is very city center, convenient to travel around Bangkok and a lot is happening in the Saladaeng neighborhood so I want to transcribe that feeling of fun and lively energy through this painting.
งานเพ้นท์ในครั้งนี้ แก้มได้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากการที่ The Cotton ตั้งอยู่ในทำเลที่ดี ท่ามกลางใจเมือง สะดวกต่อการท่องเที่ยว มีสิ่งต่างๆที่น่าสนใจ และมีสีสันต่างๆ เกิดขึ้นรอบๆโรงแรม แก้มจึงอยากนำความสนุกเหล่านั้นมาเล่าผ่านรูปวาดในครั้งนี้
What is the design related to and what is the meaning? ภาพที่รังสรรค์ออกแบบมา สื่อถึงอะไรบ้าง
I want to express this painting as an adventurous discovery during day time and pleasant relaxation in the night time. The moon and the sun represent The Pigeon Post signature drawing with a blend of The Cotton hotel elements of dreamy and lively soft pastel tones. Whenever guests walk past by these painting walls I want them to feel the positivity vibes.
แก้มออกแบบให้ภาพวาดสื่อถึงการออกไปค้นหาสิ่งที่น่าสนใจในเวลากลางวัน และ การพักผ่อนที่แสนสบายในเวลากลางคืน มีการแทรกภาพพระอาทิตย์ และพระจันทร์ ที่เป็นสิ่งที่คนจะนึกถึง The Pigeon Post ถ้าได้เห็น แต่ตัดทอนรูปวาดให้ดูเข้ากับการตกแต่งของโรงแรมมากยิ่งขึ้น ใช้สีพาสเทลซึ่งดูซอฟท์ แต่สดใส อยากให้ผู้ที่มาพักได้รับความสดใส ทุกๆครั้งที่เดินผ่านภาพทั้ง 2 ภาพ
